School Day
At St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Primary, we believe a great school day begins with a calm and welcoming start. The school gates open at 8:45am, when children arrive and begin early morning work that helps them settle and prepare for the day. Registration takes place at 9:00am.
Throughout the day, pupils follow a structured timetable that supports both learning and wellbeing. There is a morning break, and lunch is from 12:00pm to 12:45pm (timings differ slightly for EYFS and KS1). The school day finishes at 3:20pm.
Children arrive ready to learn, settle into their classrooms, and take part in morning routines that build confidence and focus. Teachers carefully plan lessons that build on prior knowledge while encouraging curiosity, active participation, and respectful relationships with adults and peers.
Our curriculum balances core learning with wider development opportunities. Lessons are clear, engaging, and age-appropriate, with support tailored to meet different learning needs. Pupils also benefit from opportunities to support their wellbeing, including regular breaks, physical activity, and time to reflect on values that help them grow as members of the school community.
We work closely with parents to ensure every child is happy, safe, and making good progress. If you have any questions about your child’s learning, attendance, or wellbeing, our team is always happy to help. By working together through open communication and shared expectations, we support every child to flourish in faith, knowledge, and character.
